Tierna Davidson’s Call Up- The Start of Something New

With the September friendlies that the USWNT have coming up against New Zealand, Jill Ellis recently announced the 22 player Roster for the two games. Surprising everyone, Ellis called up Stanford sophomore Tierna Davidson. Again, only a sophomore, a few people have been wondering what can Davidson bring to the table for the National Team- can she be on the same level as Julie Ertz and Becky Sauerbrunn? Obviously not on her first call up, but this could be the start of a long journey that ends with a new regular defender for the U.S. Team- something that is much needed. Best Game of 2017 so Far?

Maryland gets a goal in overtime to get the 3-2 win in what some have described as the biggest game in College Soccer. The Maryland crowd are proving a big factor in these games. There’s a difference between people through the gate and fans passionately supporting their team. Watch the reaction as those goals fly in!

Badger’s Upset Shock Cavaliers

After jinxing Stanford last week, I’m no longer going to be pumping them up in my articles for a while. They obviously read my articles, get far too nervous to play, and then don’t perform as well! So, as a favor for Stanford and myself, I’m going to let them play the rest of the season and hopefully not jinx them. So, instead, let’s talk about the upset that happened during the Wisconsin and Virginia game. Did anyone really see that coming? It’s weird- I didn’t even write an article about Virginia, so there was no way I could have jinxed them.

Stanford’s Success Story

I don’t mean to brag about my past work, but did I call it or did I call it? Stanford so far, has hit the ball completely out of the park, or for a lack of better terms, directly into the back of the net.
More than several times. To be exact, 9 times in their first two games this season. Outscoring Marquette and Wisconsin 9-0 have catapulted the Cardinals into NCAA first place ranking. Again, I’m not trying to brag, but I pretty much called it from the start. But, for the people who are just now joining us in this college season, I’ll be breaking down Stanford’s recent success- but more importantly how they’re going to continue dominating the NCAA. The Powerhouse Known as Stanford University

Counting down the days until the new season, it’s no mystery who is going to prove itself as the Team to Beat this year. Sure, the women’s team of West Virginia will probably go far, and so will the men’s team of Clemson. However, there’s only one team that pops into my mind, that I know for a fact, the men’s and women’s team have a fantastic chance of moving into first place in the rankings. You probably already guessed it from the title- but surprise- it’s Stanford. Continue reading “The Powerhouse Known as Stanford University”

Top 5 Women to Watch Out For 2017

By ICS Correspondant Andie Deutschle

With the 2017 College Soccer just a few days away, there are certain players that can either make or break their team this year. While they don’t quite have the weight of the world on their shoulders, they still have a big role to fill in their team- some stopping goals, assisting goals, and others scoring them. Here’s my list of the top five players to watch this season- if I’m right they’ll be doing some amazing things for their teams.

5) Bridgette Andrzejewski. This forward from the University of North Carolina has already made a name for herself as she prepares to enter her sophomore year. As a freshman, Andrzejewski started 21 games, finding the back of the net 9 times along with 2 assists, gaining 20 points. UNC describes her as “a rocket ship, her acceleration and speed is world class”- and it’s true. Anyone who has watched this player is more than aware of her fast pace and her ability to get behind the oppositions defense. She’ll be determined to be a regular starter this season, and if her freshman year is any indication of this year, I predict we’ll be seeing more of Andrzejewski.
