RIP Keith Aqui | ESPN 30 for 30 Redemption Song

keithaquiKeith Aqui – a fascinating player from Trinidad and Tobago who won the Division 1 Title with Howard University in 1971 only to have the honor taken away by the NCAA for a violation of eligibility rules.

Howard University became the first all-black college to win a major championship in all of college sports. Keith Aqui who sadly passed away this week aged 71 was the star striker in a Howard team that broke the mould in US College Soccer.

The story of the Championship Winning team ‘Redemption Song’ was chronicled by the legendary Spike Lee for ESPN’s 30 for 30 series. It’s definitely worth a watch, let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
