It’s 1995 in Greenville SC and who better to open Furman University’s brand new Eugene Stone Stadium than Brazillian soccer legend Pelé.

On a Sunny Sunday, Furman University’s administration could not have been more pleased with the debut of Eugene Stone Stadium as it played host to an overflow crowd of 3,602. The crowd was treated to a thrilling two-overtime match against a nationally-renowned opponent and an intense in-state rival.

Ex VT Soccer Star gets $100K in settlement

Former Virginia Tech soccer player Kiersten Hening has reached a settlement of $100,000 in a lawsuit against her coach, Charles “Chugger” Adair, after accusing him of benching her for not participating in a Black Lives Matter demonstration. According to a report from the Roanoke Times, the settlement includes no admission of wrongdoing by either Hening or Adair.

The 2022 NCAA D1 Final – One of the best in recent history

Syracuse University’s men’s soccer team has won its first-ever NCAA National Championship after defeating Indiana in a penalty shootout, 7-6. The shootout was tied at 4-4 after the first round of five, but Syracuse came out on top after goalkeeper Russell Shealy made a save on Indiana’s Maouloune Goumballe’s shot and senior captain Amferny Sinclair scored the winning penalty kick.

Top 10 Most Successful Male College Soccer Players of All Time

For some players, the dream of playing college soccer is the ultimate goal. But for these superstars, the dream didn’t end there. These players succeeded at the highest levels of club and international soccer. Here are ten players who went on to achieve great things after their college careers came to an end.

1 Cobi Jones – UCLA Bruins

Cobi Jones’s professional career spanned almost 2 decades. After winning the NCAA National Championship with UCLA Bruins, Jones featured in the English Premier League with Coventry City, played for Vasco de Gama in Brazil and shone in his home state of California with the LA Galaxy.

Cobi Jones is considered one of the original stars in the MLS and became the face of the Galaxy and MLS for years. With the US National Team, Jones earned 164 caps which is still a USMNT record.

He played at the 1992 Olympics and World Cup in 1994, 1998 and 2002. Cobi has since formed a successful career as a soccer analyst and can be seen sharing his insight on Fox Sports, BeIn and the Pac-12 Network.

Tony Amato Fired over Toxic Culture at UF – Will still receive $225,000 salary for the next 5 years.

The Florida Women’s soccer program has parted ways with Head Coach Tony Amato, according to Athletic Director Scott Stricklin.

The conclusion came after various players communicated concerns about Amato’s overbearing instructing style. WUFT announced the players explicitly worried about Amato’s intrusive handling of issues regarding wellness, eating, weight and self-perception.
